Pumpkin Hill farm house and vineyard, with its 23 rolling acres, sits atop its namesake. Local folklore attributes the name of the hill to an incident involving a farmer transporting pumpkins on his cart. He had the misfortune of losing a wheel, causing him to spill his entire load of pumpkins. While away trying to replace his wheel, the villagers helped themselves to the fallen bounty.
The farm house is also known as “The Sellen House”. It was built in the 1820's, just a few miles south in the town of Genoa. Abandoned and neglected for decades, it was dismantled, moved and reassembled on its present site in 2001. Take time when you visit us to look around at the exposed beams and observe the details of this fine hand-built country house.
